Generation X is often known as the "latchkey kid" generation. Women's rights movements were starting to take shape with women starting to enter the workforce. Organized daycare was not a thing back in the 70s so we GenXers often came home from school to an empty house. Some of us wore necklaces with a housekey on it to let ourselves into our home.
