Being well connected back in the day meant you had a blazing fast modem to get you on the internet. Yes kids, we had these devices which had a line to our phone jack and computer to get us awesome services like AOL, Compuserve and Prodigy! We'd have to dial out using software then listen to some strange alien noises while it tries to connect. I tied the phone lines up for hours surfing. People must've thought I was chatting on the phone for hours. I was not. We started with the turtle speed modems of 2400, then to 4800, 9600, 14400 and then to 28800. Man at those fast speeds it would only take several minutes to load a page.
