The merry-go-round types of playground equipment from the 70s were most certainly 'wheels of death'. Kids would pile up in it and then a group of kids would be standing around the outside of the wheel to spin it as fast as they could. While this is going on, kids are hopping off and wiping out in the dirt as other kids are trying to jump onto the out of control spinning wheel. Needless to say there were lots of broken bones, lots of fractured joints and definitely lots of vomiting once the wheel finally stopped spinning. More great memories...
